Plus, being homemade means you are free to add whatever ingredients or substitutes you would like. Giving you peace of mind, knowing there’s no processed sugar or dyes, only real food.
Have you ever looked at the nutrition facts on granola in the store? It’s insane how many ingredients are in them, when you would think it should be simple, healthy ingredients.
Why You Will Love This Granola Recipe
It is so simple! All you do is add all the ingredients, pour it on cookie sheets and bake it in the oven. Plus, your kids will even love it! This granola is a healthy breakfast and you can even add yogurt for probiotics or milk, whichever you prefer. Sometimes my kids even eat it plain.
Tips For Making Homemade Granola
- Add your oats to a large bowl. Mixing oats and quinoa are great combinations. This is the bulk of the granola and with the added quinoa you will get the extra health benefits.
- Add any extras you would like in your granola. Examples are chopped nuts, coconut, chia seeds or anything that sounds great to you.
- Sweeten it by adding maple syrup, honey or agave
- Add coconut oil to help prevent from sticking together, for added flavor and health benefits.
- After it is baked you can add any dried fruit that sounds delicious to you.
How Long Does Granola Last?
In a sealed container, the granola can last up to 1 month. After a month it starts to dry out and with the coconut oil, it will start to go bad.
This has never been an issue in our house. We usually eat it with in 2 weeks!
